The Globe, located on the north side of the Laakhaven entrance to The Hague Holland Spoor railway station, has for years been a landmark building in the heart of The Hague. The multifunctional building is renowned for its mix of shops, leisure facilities and offices.
A lot alongside The Globe is available for development. It is on the west side of the new entrance from the Laakhaven district to The Hague Holland Spoor. Both The Globe and the lot were recently acquired by L.I.F.E. for the purpose of regenerating this neighbourhood into a high-class city district in association with SENS.
SENS real estate and L.I.F.E. are developing a new area on the south side of The Hague Holland Spoor railway station. In addition to the transformation of the Stationspostgebouw, SENS is also taking charge of the redevelopment of The Globe and the adjacent lot. The aim is to build a high-class urban district here with a programme area of 150,000-200,000 m2. The district, with a large mix of functions, will have an identity all of its own. The outdoor landscape will be designed in a way that pulls the entire area together.
SENS has the ambition to transform this part of The Hague into a bustling part of the city centre. The future programme for the lot and The Globe will comprise a mix of residential, work, retail, hotels, education and relaxation. A lot of attention will be devoted to the street life. L.I.F.E. and SENS take the view that it is very important to focus on the first three to six floors because that is where the city is experienced. It is where the greatest interaction occurs between functions and there is the greatest chance of encounters.
